Classical Dance

 

  The Classical Dance Program for high school students offers advanced training in a variety of dance styles, emphasizing both technical excellence and artistic expression. The program is designed to challenge students and prepare them for future opportunities in performance or professional careers.

Courses Offered:

  • Ballet: Master the fundamentals of classical ballet, including advanced techniques, posture, and performance, with opportunities to explore pointe work for girls.
  • Tap: Refine rhythm, coordination, and advanced tap dance techniques to enhance musicality and precision.
  • Jazz: Dive deeper into jazz dance styles, focusing on flexibility, strength, and dynamic expressive movement.
  • Modern/Contemporary: Explore modern and contemporary dance techniques, emphasizing fluid movement, improvisation, and emotional expression.
  • Character Dance: Study traditional folk and cultural dance styles often integrated into classical ballet productions, showcasing rich historical and cultural contexts.
  • Choreography and Variations: Create and perform original works, including student compositions, to explore creativity and innovation.

Daily Schedule:

  • First Session: Develop foundational and advanced skills in ballet, tap, jazz, modern/contemporary, and character dance, focusing on technique and performance.
  • Second Session: Engage in specialized areas such as choreography, dance history, performance techniques, and cultural studies.
  • Studio Time: Dedicated time for individualized projects, with one-on-one guidance from instructors to refine skills and prepare for presentations.
